Have you ever heard of this Non-Profit? No, well neither have I until a good friend of mine introduced me to it.

This is an organization that focuses on furthering education for rural children in Cambodia. Cambodia is the country of my origin, but I wasn't born neither ever visited there! I was actually lucky to have survived because my mother was almost shot down while trying to escape the Khmer Rouge on the famous trail from Cambodia to Thailand. She was shot in the ankle while pregnant with me, but with help of other victims of the regime...they helped her cross the border to the safety of refugee camps.

Anyhow, they help the children get the education they need so that they can try to raise their country above "Third World." My friend is planning to relocate there and become an English teacher for the project...that is so awesome! He might go as soon as 6 months. He mentioned to me..."Save the money, you don't have to worry about lodging now! Just have enough for flight, food and souvenirs!"

I hope all goes well for him...I will obviously give him all my blessings! Once he settles, I will most likely go there for my first "out of the country" trip.

I know it will be a culture shock, but I'd rather be shocked than get accustomed immediately...I shouldn't consider it normal for the country of my origin to be the way it is!!!

Rawness Oceanic Consumables

Sushi...I LOVE IT!

A couple nights ago I went out with a couple of friends from work. We were hungry and decided to stay as close to work as possible, local! So we decided to go to one of our favorite sushi favorites around that area, ETSOGO! I always get the usual combination of Shrimp Tempura, Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon. I asked the woman that works there, Janice, to give me some suggestions. She, of course, didn't really know what to say because she loves all the rolls....so she didn't help out as much. While I was skimming the menu, I noticed a roll that consisted of cooked crabmeat, tuna, and special chef's sauce. It was called the Paradise Roll!

I tried to attach a photo to this blog and am not having any luck...for being a tech dude, why is it giving me issues? I just wanted to share a picture of the article of food that's heaven in my mouth.

Resumes...

Resumes...wow! I haven't wrote one since I started working at UTEC, July 2001!

For one of my design classes, I have to design a self-promoting resume that will/can include a logo, business card and stationary set. My professor told me that these designs have to be so unique that even if the person that interview me don't hire me, they'll always remember that resume. That one resume that sticks out like a rainbow in a cloudy black/white sky!

So doing some research for design examples, I've run into many interesting designs! There are a lot of interesting ones out there, but the one that stuck out to me the most was this:

I know it's not a resume, it's rather a portfolio...but for a graphic designer to be successful, they would need to have a professional portfolio like this to back up their resume. I know for sure right now that my stuff can't be compared to his...but, this is an example of things I use to motivate myself to become better than what I am now. And, that's not just for now either...I plan on continuing to get better until I STOP DESIGNING!

OH WHAT INSPIRATIONS THAT EXIST OUT THERE!

Busy Bee

This is my second blog of the day and I guess it makes sense for me to ramble about my current situation regarding my profession.

I realized that I'm a freakin' busy person. Currently, I attend two 3 hour classes a week at MCC, work 40+ hours a week at my organization, work 5-10hrs a week at my internship, and be a daddy! When I sit down and calculate everything that I do hour-by-hour...I don't have any free time! And if I do have time, I'm either doing homework, my daughter's homework, or UTEC work! What the hootin-nanny!

Anyhow, I'm actually glad that I have such a busy schedule...I came to realize this when I had two weeks off from school and work. Besides catching up with guitar playing and video games, I didn't do much! I would lay in bed most of the day after cleaning the room and watch television. I've watched television in those two weeks more than I did the last 2 years of my life! Insane...that's what I'll become if I continued to do this!

My point is, I like to be on my feet all the time. I figured the busier my day is the faster it will go by and the less bored I'll be! The ultimate goal of all of this is to not only help me in life, but also offer the best I can for my Queen, my daughter Bryanna Honor Pouv (also first professional in my family).

There's not a lot of chivalrous fathers today, I would like to change that and prove to myself that I'm not my father!
